Boardman FOP to clean up Market Street Saturday

YOUNGSTOWN

Ohio Department of Transportation crews and local volunteer groups will be picking up litter along Ohio’s roadways all week in conjunction with the “Great American Cleanup.”

It costs Ohio about $4 million each year to pick up litter, according to ODOT.

Through the Adopt-A-Highway program, ODOT has nearly 1,400 groups statewide that have adopted a two-mile section or an interchange along the state highway system, picking up litter and debris a minimum of four times each year.

The Boardman Fraternal Order of Police will clean up Market Street from U.S. Route 224 to about Midlothian Boulevard on Saturday.

Interested groups can go online to www.transportation.ohio.gov and look for the Adopt-a-Highway icon.
