Hotel plans proceed
NILES
The Cafaro Co. says it plans to move forward with its hotel and banquet center at Eastwood Mall despite a county prosecutor’s ruling that denied the company’s request to waive tap-in fees.
“Plans have been in motion for some time and we’ve been proceeding as if it’s going forward,” said Joe Bell, the company’s director of corporate communications. “That’s not changing.”
Businesses pay tap-in fees to use water and sewer systems.
Bell said he did not know the cost of the tap-in fees.
The prosecutor’s office can request an official opinion from the state if requested by county commissioners.
Cafaro Co. in January announced plans to build a new four-story, nationally branded, all-suite hotel at Eastwood Mall.
The tentative opening date is scheduled for 2013.
