YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown police are investigating two separate Tuesday beatings involving baseball bats.

A 23-year-old city woman flagged down officers on routine patrol just before 5 a.m. on the South Side. The flesh on the woman’s nose was nearly completely ripped off and the bone underneath exposed.

The woman told officers she had been drinking with a man at a house in the 500 block of Princeton when the man got upset and asked her to leave. The woman said she was attempting to leave the house, but the man picked up a baseball bat from the front porch and hit her in the face.

The woman could tell officers only the man’s first name. Officers were unable to locate the man.

The woman was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center for treatment. There is no information about her condition.

Later the same day, officers were sent to another South Side location for a different incident involving a baseball bat.

A 21-year-old Maywood Drive woman told police her boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend came to her house and began yelling because the boyfriend did not assemble a child’s crib for her.

The argument escalated until the Maywood Drive woman asked the ex-girlfriend to leave the property. The ex-girlfriend, reportedly, responded by hitting the woman in the back with a baseball bat.

The woman was bruised by the attack and went to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Boardman for treatment.

Police have not yet arrested the ex-girlfriend.
