Angels for Animals is accepting donations for its 18th annual garage sale. The garage sale is Friday through Sunday at the Canfield Fairgrounds.
Friday admission is $5 from 10 a.m. to noon, and $1 from noon to 7 p.m.; Saturday admission is $1 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday admission is free from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and $5 for the clearance sale from 3:15 to 5 p.m.
Angels is accepting donations at the main gate of the fairgrounds off state Route 46 in Canfield through 7 p.m. today, excluding console televisions, sofa beds, encyclopedias, tires, Christmas trees, mattresses and box springs.
No dogs, wagons or strollers are permitted inside the buildings. For more information contact Angels for Animals at 330-549-1111.
Hospital expansion
NEW CASTLE, PA.
Jameson Health System is having a Last Beam “Topping Out” Ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Thursday to commemorate placing the final steel beam at the top of Jameson Hospital North Campus’ new Emergency & Surgical Departments Building, 1211 Wilmington Ave.
The new, three-story 55,000- square-foot facility will house all new emergency and surgical departments for the health system. It will be connected to Jameson Hospital by a glass-enclosed walkway and will include 30 private patient emergency rooms, six operating rooms and two endoscopy suites.
Final building construction, internal furnishings and improved equipment is projected to cost $20.3 million. The new facility is targeted to open in early 2013.
New Habitat house
YOUNGSTOWN
Habitat for Humanity of Mahoning County is standing up the walls on its first home of 2012 on Saturday at 4 Maranatha Drive. Some 50 volunteers are expected to participate from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This is the fifth and final Habitat home on this street and is being built in memory of Linda Hoefert.
The partner family, the Abigail Walsh and Shaun Dunmire family, will be on-site Saturday as part of their required 400 hours of sweat equity. More than 20 volunteers from the Westminster College football team and alumni will be there along with friends and family of Hoefert, Youngstown State University students and other volunteers.
The walls were built by the Choffin Career and Technical Center students. Construction will continue Saturdays and Wednesdays throughout the spring and summer. Volunteers on site do not need construction skills to participate. Call 330-743-7244 to find out about volunteer orientation.

The Trumbull County Republican Party will have its monthly breakfast at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the Community Room at the Eastwood Mall near the Trumbull County Republican Party headquarters and Dillards. Speaker will be Jonathan Petrea from Energy Citizens, Ohio.
