No plea deals for murderers
No plea deals for murderers
I am writing this letter in dis- gust, sadness and just frustration at the recent plea deal again in Mahoning County in the Clinkscale case for two murders. This man entered a plea deal which gave him 6 years in jail for killing two people if not less when he applies for a judicial release.
Two members of my family were victims in a double homicide. That man was convicted of the murders and received the death sentence which has been carried out. My family and I are so grateful for that sentence. I am also thankful that we had the prosecutors we did many years ago instead of who is in office now.
How does killing two people give you a sentence of 6 years? When will Mahoning County wake up and start giving these criminals what they deserve, instead of slapping them on the wrist and telling them they’re bad so they can just get out and commit more crimes and kill more innocent people? Prosecutors should be prepared for their cases instead of giving plea deals. Most of us would be fired if we were never prepared at work.
Yes, I understand plea deals are an important process of justice, however I do not feel that a murderer should get any type of plea deal, especially a repeat offender.
As a victim, I take this very personally and wish that people and our judicial system would start thinking of the victims and the victims’ families and what they went through when their loved ones were murdered.
