Bruce Weber, 21, of Rome, Ohio, is in stable condition at ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital, and a 24-year-old Warren man is charged with felonious assault after Weber was stabbed early Sunday on Lawnview Avenue.

Justin M. Prem, 24, of Perkinswood Boulevard Southeast, Warren was charged in the stabbing and was taken to the Trumbull County Jail.

Prem told police after they arrived for the incident that had taken place at 4:54 a.m. that he went to 74 Lawnview to confront Weber because he had heard Weber was going to marry his ex-girlfriend.

Prem said Weber was sleeping in a car in his ex-girlfriend’s driveway at the time he confronted him.

Prem told police he and Weber talked at first. “Then I got angry and I just started hitting him,” police said. The two men were wrestling in the yard. “That’s when I stabbed him,” Prem said.

Police found Weber with several puncture wounds to his torso. Weber said Prem got into the passenger side of the car and talked to him at first, then started hitting him with something.

Weber said he ran toward his girlfriend’s residence, but Prem attacked him from behind.

They found Prem lying face-down in the yard of a residence across the street, a bloody knife near his head. Prem, who was wearing a bloody jacket and bloody gloves, told police he was not injured.
