Milton Fire Dept. gets $2,500 award

Lake Milton

The Milton Township Volunteer Fire Department was awarded $2,500 through America’s Farmers Grow Communities.

The department used the funds to purchase a new defibrillator, according to a news release.

Grow Communities, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund, gives farmers the opportunity to win $2,500 for their favorite local nonprofit organizations.

Sam Hamilton was the winning farmer in Mahoning County. He recognized the importance of volunteer fire departments and directed the donation to the Milton Township Fire Department.

“I have always respected volunteer firefighters,” Hamilton said in a news release. “They are ready to help someone in need any time of the day. Of all of the public services that one could do, it is one of the most selfless jobs out there.”
