Two earth-friendly events are scheduled for the Covelli Centre on April 14.
At 8 a.m., volunteers will be briefed and given cleanup supplies there before they go to local highway on and off ramps to pick up litter in a state-sponsored roadway cleanup.
The other Covelli Centre event that day is an appliance recycling drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, microwaves and other items made primarily of metal, even those containing Freon will be accepted for free.
The events are sponsored by Youngstown Litter Control and Recycling and the Mahoning County Recycling Division.
Cash Mob alert

Mahoning Valley Cash Mob will gather between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. April 21 at Bartell’s Cupcakery, 14 State St.
Residents and Mahoning Valley Cash Mob support locally owned independent businesses, mobbing a chosen store on a specified day and time, with cash in hand. Each person commits to spending up to $20 in the store that day.
Josh Bartell, Cupcakery owner, has agreed to donate 10 percent of his net profit for the entire day’s sales to Mahoning Valley Cash Mob’s Entrepreneurial Fund. Residents are encouraged to join the group and can get information by contacting MVCM’s founder, Geo Peterson, at Off The Cuff & On The Button, A Fine Consignment Boutique at 7301 West Boulevard, Suite C-5, Boardman, or by calling 330-726-1200.
The Entrepreneurial Fund will help local businesses financially.
Take whimsical walk
VILLA MARIA, PA.
Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center’s family series will include two imaginative and whimsical walks from 1:30 to 3 p.m. April 19 and 22.
After the walk, parents and children will work together on a craft take-home project.
The walk will be led by Sister Jeanne Thurin.
The cost is $2 per person (adult and child) or $5 per family, if more than two, and includes program materials.

Spring at Villa Maria

Skywarn training
LISBON
Columbiana County Emergency Management Agency will host the annual Skywarn training provided by the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh on Tuesday at the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center, 9364 state Route 45.
Registration for the free program will be at 6:30 p.m., followed by the program at 7. Skywarn is a cooperative effort between NWS and communities with storm spotters. To register, call 330-424-9725.
