Failing Zoar levee is focus of PBS show
KENT
A levee built in the 1930s to preserve the historic Tuscarawas County village of Zoar is in danger of failing.
Western Reserve Public Media details the situation in “Zoar Levee: To Preserve and Protect,” which investigates possible solutions to the dilemma. The documentary will air at 10:30 p.m. Monday and 1 a.m. April 16 on Western Reserve PBS (WNEO 45.1).
Zoar was founded in 1817 by German religious dissenters as a communal society.
The Ohio Historical Society operates a portion of the town as a historic site. A number of Zoar’s buildings are restored and open to the public.
