Bishop George V. Murry of the Diocese of Youngstown has announced the opening of the St. Andrew’s House of Vocation Discernment on the campus of Walsh University in North Canton.
Beginning with the 2012-2013 school year, this house in La Mennais Hall, will offer young men a place to discern their life’s vocational calling, with a strong inclination to the diocesan priesthood.
Residents of the House of Vocation Discernment will work with a full-time, on site priest who will serve as the formation director for this place of study, reflection, prayer and discernment.
The purpose of the house is to offer young men an environment where they can come to understand God’s will and call for their lives.
While they are active students at the university, they not only will be an integral part of the community at Walsh, but will also enter into focused communal prayer, spiritual direction, formation, and pastoral outreach.
The diocese and Walsh University will sponsor an open house from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. next Saturday. It will begin with a prayer service in Our Lady of Perpetual Help University Chapel with the dedication and blessing of the house by Bishop Murry immediately following.
This event is open to the public.
