Still not a woman’s world
Still not a woman’s world
Los Angeles Times: A new study on the status of women and girls in California, just released by Mount St. Mary’s College, concludes that women here earn degrees at a higher rate than men. Nearly a third of the state’s businesses are solely owned by women, and 38 percent of its elected representatives are women.
And yet the same survey produces reminders of persistent inequity. Three percent of California’s corporate chief executives are women. Even as more women than men graduate from law school, men vastly outnumber women in the leadership positions of law firms. Women are twice as likely as men to report being depressed or anxious.
No wonder.
