Special events and services are planned for today’s observance of Good Friday. The Shrine of Our Lady, Comforter of the Afflicted, will conduct a celebration of the Lord’s Passion at 3 p.m. and Easter Sunday Masses at 9:30 a.m. and noon. The shrine also offers Spirituality Day by prior arrangement and other devotions; call 330-799-1888.

Ambassadors for Christ: The organization of churches on the East Side will gather at noon today at We Walk by Faith Bible Church, 1636 Himrod Ave., Youngstown, for the 11th annual journey with the cross. Participants will walk with a large wooden cross, and each person will have a chance to carry it. Walking along in song, the group will stop at various street corners for prayer.

Fairview Arts & Outreach Center, 4220 Youngstown-Poland Road, Youngstown: Top Hat Productions will present the 18th season of “The Earth Trembled.” The Passion play, which depicts the crucifixion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, will be at 7 p.m. today and Saturday. Harvest Point Church, Lordstown Plaza, 6100 Tod Ave. SW, Warren: A Tenebrae service will be at 6 p.m.

Poland Presbyterian Church, 2 Poland Manor, Poland: A Tenebrae service is planned at 7 p.m.

Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2305 S. Canfield Niles Road, Austintown: A Tenebrae service will be at 7 p.m.

Rising Star Baptist Church, 2943 Wardle Ave., Youngstown: The church will present the Passion play, “What Love,” at 7 p.m. today, Saturday and Easter. Doors open at 6, and admission is free.

St. Lucy/St. Rosa de Lima Church, 304 Tenney Ave., Campbell: Youth group will present “Stations Alive” starting at noon at Campbell Library, 374 Sanderson Ave., and ending at the church.

St. Nicholas Church, 764 Fifth St., Struthers: Mime of the Lord’s Passion is set for 3 p.m.

St. Patrick Church, 1420 Oak Hill Ave., Youngstown: Walking the Way of the Lord, a creative interpretation of the Stations of the Cross, is planned at 7:30 p.m.

Second Chance Community Outreach Ministry, 1747 S. Raccoon Road, Suite 1, Austintown: Evangelist Fred Lee will deliver a one-man dramatization, “Sermon on the Mount,” at 6 p.m. The 45-minute presentation is free, but reservations are recommended as seating is limited. Call 330-301-6501.

Tabernacle Baptist Church, 707 Arlington St., Youngstown: Service on the “Seven Last Words of Christ” is planned at 7 p.m.

West Austintown United Methodist Church, 6749 Mahoning Ave., Austintown: Community service at noon with the Rev. Rick Staufer followed by lunch. Movie, “The Great Passion Play,” will be at 7 p.m.
