Once again, the Boardman Orchestras made history by bringing home straight Superior (I) ratings for both participating ensembles at the Ohio Music Education Asso ciation State Orchestra Adjudicated Events held at Lakewood High School on March 3.

The 110-member Boardman Symphony Orchestra has the longest string of Superior ratings, since 1973, of any orchestra in the state of Ohio. The Chamber Orchestra was awarded the Superior (I) rating this year as well.

like “This was a truly outstanding performance in every way. You were exciting and musical. This was on of the finest high school performances I have ever heard. You play with a maturity way beyond your years. Another outstanding performance of a terrific and challenging set of music.”

The 40-member Boardman Chamber Orchestra also received a Superior (I) rating, a rating it has been awarded every time they have performed at State Contest for the past 21 years.

In addition to performing at State Contests, the Orchestra traveled to the campus of Cleveland State University to work with the music faculty. They even offered to come to Boardman High School to conduct various workshops with the students.

Boardman students also attended the Cleveland Playhouse for the Broadway performance of “Memphis” thanks mostly to the efforts of the Boardman Band and Orchestra Parents Association who help support the band and orchestra departments at Boardman through fundraisers, chaperones, etc.

The Boardman Orchestras will be participating in the Invitational National Music Competition held in Virginia Beach this April.
