Austintown youth earns spot at nationals

Austintown’s Joshua Eddy is one of three Information Technology students from the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center students to have earned a spot to compete at the Business Professionals of America National Conference after earning high scores at the state level.

Justin Humphrey (Lowellville) and Mitchell Reynolds (South Range) captured first place in the website design team event and Eddy qualified in the spreadsheet application event.

The students are headed to the national conference in Chicago April 25-29. They will join more than 5,000 other conference delegates from across the nation to participate in national level business skills competitions, workshops and general sessions.

“The conference will be the culmination of a school years’ worth of business and IT education and training, which members of the local chapter of Business Professionals of America at MCCTC have received,” said chapter adviser and IT Service and Support Instructor Helen Slack.

BPA is a national organization for high school, college and middle school students preparing them for careers in business and information technology.
