U.S. 422 bridge closed
NEW castle, pa.
The bridge that carries westbound U.S. Route 422 over the Shenango River in Taylor Township is closed until further notice, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said.
Painting crews found cracking in one of the bridge support beams. The bridge was closed immediately Tuesday until repairs are finished, PennDOT said. The eastbound bridge, which is a different structure, is not affected.
Westbound traffic is detoured to Pa. Route 168, then north through New Castle to U.S. Route 224 to Business Route 422. A long-term detour will be established using Business Route 422. Motorists are advised to use caution and expect delays.
Siren test in Pa. today
HERMITAGE, PA.
Hermitage Fire Department will conduct its monthly test of the area’s weather warning sirens at 10 a.m. today.
The test will include activation of the Clark, Farrell, Sharpsville, West Middlesex and Wheatland weather sirens.
Lordstown special meeting
LORDSTOWN
The Lordstown Board of Public Affairs will conduct a special meeting at 2:30 p.m. today to consider the appointment of a permanent part-time laborer. The meeting will be in the village administration building, 1455 Salt Springs Road, Lordstown.
Hermitage thefts
HERMITAGE pa.
City police are investigating numerous reports of thefts from vehicles that apparently occurred Monday night or early Tuesday.
The thefts occurred on Donna Drive, Clarksville Road, Theresa Drive and Patricia Drive. Among the items taken were a radar detector, GPS unit, currency and change, XM radio, tools, CB radios and sunglasses. The estimated value of all items is several hundred dollars.
All the vehicles were unlocked.
