NILES

The Niles Historical Society will present the Underground Railroad Program at its annual Spring Dinner, planned for April 25 at Ciminero’s Banquet Center, 123 N. Main St.

The Underground Railroad program will show how escaping slaves were helped to move through Ohio and especially Trumbull County. Slides, artifacts, stories and narrative will help the audience learn how Trumbull County residents worked for freedom through the Railroad.

Doors will open at 5:30, and dinner will be served at 6 p.m. As guests arrive, Ralph Tolbert will show pictures that were recently donated to the society. Historical books will be for sale as well as “Streak Free” cloths, which the society is selling to raise funds for the new display/lecture hall building.

Tickets may be purchased from society members or by calling the office at 330-544-2143. Leave your phone number for a call-back to reserve tickets. The donation is $20 per person, and the reservation deadline is April 16.
