Ferguson steals home for Ridge win

Dan Ferguson stole home to score the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift Mineral Ridge (4-3, 4-1 Inter Tri-County League Tier One) over Columbiana, 6-5.
On a 3-2 count with the bases loaded and two outs, Columbiana left-hander Hank Schlueter stepped off the rubber. Ferguson slid in well ahead of the tag. Mike White (3-0) pitched a scoreless seventh to get the win and Dino Digacomo had three hits for the Rams, who scored twice in the seventh to rally. Ferguson scored three runs and Zack Tasker had two RBIs. For Columbiana, Schlueter and Garrett Patrick each had two hits.

STRUTHERS
Brendon Sklenar, Pat Markovich and Frank Rondinelli all had two hits for Mooney (4-2). Rondinelli and Harry Wagner each had triples. The Cardinals scored all four runs in the sixth inning. Dan D’Andrea limited the Indians (6-2) to just two hits.

CANFIELD
Senior Tony Mehle (2-0) struck out five and reliever junior Tony Velasquez struck out three for the Cardinals (4-0). Junior Derek Turocy had a two-run homer and a triple for four RBIs, senior Ben Angelo had three singles and senior Tylor Rhoads had a double and single and an RBI for the winners.
Adam Thirion had the lone hit — a single off of Mehle — for Hubbard.

Jeremy Fumerola hit a home run and Dom DiTommasso had double for Mathews.
