Boardman police close high school assault case
BOARDMAN — Police have determined an allegation of a March 27 assault at Boardman High School to be unfounded and the case is now closed.
A parent had reported his 17-year-old daughter was assaulted by a female student while in a class about noon that day when a teacher was not present, but Boardman Detective Sgt. Chuck Hillman said the parent and school officials said initial information was wrong.
Hillman said it was determined the 17-year-old girl was engaged in horseplay and that the teacher was present during the incident.
“The parent did not speak to the school first in this case and later found he had inaccurate information,” Hillman said. “I advise all parents to speak to the school first before calling police.”
