Robbery charge
NILES
Bond was set at $7,500 in Niles Municipal Court onMonday for Christina A. Barner, 27, of Cleveland on a felony robbery charge. She was not required to enter a plea. A loss-prevention officer for Macy’s in Eastwood Mall reported that Barner struck him in the head while he was arresting her at 7:28 p.m. Friday in the theft of $1,611 worth of shirts.
The officer said he saw Barner conceal polo shirts and attempt to leave the store through the food-court exit. The employee pursued Barner into the food court and outside of the mall, where he identified himself.
As the officer attempted to arrest Barner, she swung her fist, hitting the officer in the head, police said. Barner was brought under control and brought back to the loss-prevention office where Niles police took her into custody and took her to the Trumbull County Jail. If convicted, Barner could get up to five years in prison.

Entrance change
YOUNGSTOWN
Patrons of the main public library, 305 Wick Ave., must enter via the Wick Avenue door for three weeks beginning today. That’s because repair work is being done on the steps at the usual entrance off the parking lot on the north side of the building. However, handicapped patrons still may enter through the usual parking-lot door and take the elevator that bypasses the steps.
