Pitt increases reward after 2 more bomb threats

PITTSBURGH (AP) — The University of Pittsburgh has increased a reward for information about a wave of recent bomb threats on campus.

The amount was raised from $10,000 to $50,000 Monday night after two more threats prompted evacuation of David Lawrence Hall and the Cathedral of Learning.

That brings to nine the number of threats to the school since February. The 42-story Cathedral of Learning has been evacuated six times.

Pitt spokesman Robert Hill said last week that the school is determined to bring to justice the person or persons responsible. He said there hasn’t been a similar wave of threats since he came to the school in 1999.

University police and the FBI are investigating. The university said it reserved the right to allocate the reward “among multiple sources of information.”
