Audit of Liberty schools shows salary overpayment in 2012
Liberty
The Liberty school district’s former Treasurer Tracey Obermiyer overpaid herself $4,920 in fiscal year 2010 and must pay it back, according to the a state audit of the school’s finances released today.
According to the audit, Obermiyer paid herself that amount without board of education approval while working with Liberty’s former conversion schools.
Although Obermiyer was authorized to be the treasurer for Liberty school district and its two conversion schools, never was she to be paid extra for her work with the conversion schools, the audit said.
In addition to the findings for recovery, the audit, which examined the district’s financial records between July 1, 2009 and June 30, 2010, shows the financial mess that led the state auditors office to deem the district’s financial records “unauditable” in 2011.
Phone calls to Obermiyer for comment on the audit have not been returned.
