Filipans’ 50th is marked with renewal of vows

GIRARD
Ron and Loretta Filipan of Girard recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of their wedding by renewing their marriage vows at St. Columba Cathedral in Youngstown.
The couple were married July 1, 1961, at St. Rose Church in Girard, where they are members.
Mrs. Filipan, who is the former Loretta Guido, is employed at Dillard’s in Niles as a seasonal apparel specialist, and was previously employed in retail sales at Allen’s Drugtown in Liberty. She volunteered for many years at St. Rose Elementary School in Girard and earned a 10-year pin for volunteering with the Ladies Professional Golf Association.
Mr. Filipan retired from U.S. Steel McDonald Works after 23 years as a motor inspector, and he was self-employed for 10 years as a painter. He is a previous member of the United Steelworkers Union and the Painters, Decorators and Paperhangers Union 476. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps. He is a third degree Knight of Columbus and a member of the Holy Name Society.
The couple have one daughter, Rhonda S. Filipan, of Stow.
