Hagan’s insurance bill gets hearing
COLUMBUS
House Bill 172, legislation sponsored by State Rep. Robert F. Hagan of Youngstown, D-60th, to ensure that Ohioans know when health-insurance rates will increase, got its first hearing Wednesday.
The bill requires the Ohio Department of Insurance to post health-insurance premium-increase filings on the state’s website.
“In my opinion, people should have the right to easily access information that shows precisely why and how their health-insurance company filed a premium increase with the state of Ohio,” Hagan said in a release.
The Insurance Committee hasn’t scheduled additional hearings yet.
