WARREN

David Hosking, 24, of Parkman Road Northwest, pleaded innocent Monday to felonious assault. He’s accused of biting off one-third of his girlfriend’s ear Saturday during an argument.

The woman, 22, of Atlantic Street Northeast, said she and Hosking were at a party in Niles, and she awoke to Hosking hitting her. The two argued and headed to Hosking’s home, where Hosking threw the woman’s car keys under the porch, she said.

While she was trying to retrieve them, Hosking knocked her to the ground and kicked her in the back and shoulder area, she said.

Hosking also tackled the woman and bit off part of her ear, she said. Warren police officers later recovered the piece of ear on the side porch and took it to ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital in a plastic bag filled with ice.

The woman, reached by telephone Monday, said the hospital was unable to reattach the missing parts, including a portion of the ear and a portion of the ear lobe. She said the injury doesn’t affect her hearing.

Hosking was still at the Parkman Road address when police arrived at about 1 a.m.

Inside the house, they found Hosking asleep in the bedroom and detained him in handcuffs because of the number of knives and swords in the home. The house also was filthy with garbage, animal feces, food and empty beer cans, police said.

They noticed blood on Hosking’s forearm.
