Burglary charges
WARREN
Ademilson J. Smith, 29, of Main Street, Kinsman, pleaded innocent to burglary and two felony counts of receiving stolen property Monday after police found him sitting in a stolen pickup truck containing a stolen television set early Sunday.
A resident of the 1700 block of Atlantic Street Northeast reported that he awoke to the sound of his pickup truck being driven out of his driveway at 3:50 a.m. and noticed his 46-inch television missing from the living room.
Police were alerted to the theft and later spotted the truck pulling into 1339 Fifth St. SW.
Police arrested Smith and recovered the truck, television, and a wallet belonging to the victim that contained $39 in cash, two credit cards, a debit card and other items.
The sliding-glass door to the home was accidentally left unlocked, police said.
If convicted on the charges, Smith could get more than 10 years in prison.
Release denied
YOUNGSTOWN
A request for early release from prison by Debra L. Chance, the former office manager who stole more than $600,000 from The Honda Store in Boardman, has been denied. After the prosecutor objected to her early release, Judge R. Scott Krichbaum of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court denied her request in a ruling filed Thursday. After her guilty plea to the theft, Judge Krichbaum sentenced Chance, 41, of New Middletown, to four years in prison in February and ordered her to make full restitution. Police said Chance was the car dealership’s office manager and had been stealing money from the business.
for most of that time.
