Quilting Angels will host its annual fall luncheon at noon Oct. 4 at Fair Park Community Building, 330 Oak St., Canfield.

Featured will be a basket auction, quilt raffle, 50-50 raffle, door prizes and a quilt exhibit. Tickets are $15. For tickets call 330-788-5122.

MCCTC hair salon opens Tuesday

CANFIELD

The cosmetology students at Mahoning County Career and Technical Center are opening their salon to the public beginning Tuesday. Hours are 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday through Friday, by appointment only, through May.

Students will offer cuts, styles, perms, relaxers, facials, hair removal, color and manicures. Prices start at $6. All services are performed by students under the supervision of their instructor.

Book group starting at Leetonia library

LEETONIA

Leetonia Community Public library is starting a book discussion group and will have a planning meeting at 10 a.m. Oct. 5 at the library.

The library also has planned a fall tea for 2:30 p.m. Oct. 8 for ages 5 and older. Jody Lewis will present a program on pioneer life. Light refreshments will be provided. Register by Oct. 5 by calling 330-427-6635 or stopping by the library.

130 golfers take part in memorial outing

NEW CASTLE, Pa.

The second annual Fore Johnny Memorial Golf Outing in memory of John M. Casacchia drew 130 golfers Sept. 20 to Castle Hills Golf Course.

Casacchia, who was a barber 46 years with Johnny’s Barber Shop on Long Avenue on the city’s South Side, lost his battle with cancer Sept. 26, 2010. The first golf fundraiser was organized last year to assist his family in his care.

This year’s event, organized by Brian Chrobak, Joshua Vitale and Kevin Kelley, benefited Jameson Hospice of Lawrence County in Casacchia’s memory.

Degree conferred at Masonic temple

SALEM

Faith Court, Order of the Amaranth, conducted its annual inspection Sept. 17 at Salem Masonic Temple and conferred the degree on Eric Forney. Inspecting officers were Jerry McColugh and Jill Smithwright. Steve and Kate Ronshausen presided and announced that entertainment would be provided at the annual Thanksgiving dinner. A donation was made to diabetic research.
