Villa Maria to host harvest celebration

Sisters of the Humility of Mary will host the 12th annual Harvest Day Celebration from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at Villa Maria Community Center.
The event will feature hayrides, pumpkin painting, face painting, nature-trail walks, corn toss and a drum circle.
Children may participate in old-fashioned games such as potato-sack races and relay races or take on the 32-foot rock-climbing wall.
Those attending may participate in a variety of projects in the arts- and-crafts tent. One project is making herb vinegar.
Live entertainment will be Rising Regina, a folk, bluegrass band.
Additional activities will include a bake sale, gift- basket raffles and a new raffle called “Wheelbarrow Jackpot,” which is a new wheelbarrow filled with gifts.
Villa Maria Market Barn will sell organically grown produce, herb crafts, pumpkins, cornstalks, Indian corn, straw bales and seasonal mums.
Food stations will offer Villa Veggie Wraps, Villa Stir Fry and deep-dish caramel apples, hamburgers from Villa’s farm-raised beef, french fries from Villa’s home-grown potatoes, pumpkin coffee, apple cider and butternut-squash soup.
One-of-a-kind gifts will be available at the Villa Shoppe, which supports Fair Trade work around the world. New items highlight fall fashion with scarves from India and purses from Brazil made from recycled materials.
