South Range, Boardman come up big

Runners from the South Range boys and girls cross country teams enjoyed successful races on Saturday.

South Range’s Ryan Roush ran a 15:57 setting a new course record at the Lordstown Invitational. Teammate Tim Nichols was second running a 16:30.

The Raiders were not part of the team competition. Lordstown’s boys were first overall with 39 points.

The South Range girls team took the top spot with 26 points.

Emily Rast, Monica Patrick, Matti Dunham and Mary Claire McCarthy finished in the top 15 for the Raiders.

Allison Parks of United Local finished first overall for the girls race with a 20:45.

Massillon Jackson swept the boys and girls D-I races, but Boardman wasn’t far behind. The Spartans boys finished third with 86 points while the girls had 177 for eighth.

Mark Hadley won the overall race for the Spartans with a time of 16:07.

Fitch boys placed sixth with 165 points.

Lakeview and Struthers boys finished third and fifth, respectively.

Poland girls came in second led by McKinsie Klim’s third place time of 19:34. Struthers came in sixth and Lakeview finished 10th.
