Mount Union rolled up 671 yards of total offense at Mount Union Stadium. The Raiders had 411 yards on the ground and 260 in the air as the 671 total yards were most in a regular-season game since nearly four years to the day as Mount Union had 690 yards in a 62-0 home win against Muskingum. Mount Union (3-0, 2-0 OAC) extended its regular season win streak to 56 games and home field winning streak to 52 games. Wilmington (0-3, 0-2 OAC) lost its 19th straight game dating to the 2009 season. Junior running back Jeremy Murray capped two scoring drives in the first quarter with rushing touchdowns from two and 26 yards as Mount Union took a 14-0 lead. It was the start of another big day for Murray who tacked on a 61-yard touchdown run in a 35-point Mount Union second quarter that saw the Raiders run out to a 49-0 halftime lead. Murray, who only played in the first half, finished with 167 yards rushing on 12 carries. It was his third-straight 100-yard performance and he now has 546 yards and eight touchdowns rushing on the season. Fellow junior running back Blair Skilliter also rushed for two touchdowns. Junior quarterbacks Neal Seaman and Matt Piloto each tossed a touchdown pass as both only played in the first half. Senior wide receiver Brandon Brown caught a touchdown pass and had a team-high four receptions for 47 yards.
Oberlin 27, Hiram 7
OBERLIN
Hiram could not overcome an early 20-0 deficit in a North Coast Athletic Conference game. Hiram falls to 1-3 overall and 1-2 in the NCAC. Oberlin improves to 2-1 overall and 1-0 NCAC. The Yeomen scored early and often as Oberlin recorded touchdowns on its first three possessions beginning with its first score on a four-play, 50-yard drive to begin the game and ended with a 10-yard touchdown pass play from Robin Witjes to Drew Mixter for the 7-0 lead. Following an interception on the ensuing Hiram possession, Oberlin struck again on a four-yard TD run by Moses Richardson at the 4:52 minute mark. The Yeomen failed to convert the extra point, but still led 13-0. Oberlin recorded the final points of the first quarter on a 56-yard pass play from Cory Kidd to Robin Witjes that extended the margin to 20-0.
Waynesburg 32, Grove City 26
GROVE CITY, Pa.
The Yellow Jackets (2-1, 2-0 PAC) gave Grove City (0-4, 0-2) 116 yards on 14 penalties and trailed for a large portion game in large part because of them. However, impact players on both sides of the ball were able to save the game for the Jackets. Grove City’s offense was paced by running back Blaine Miller, who scored three touchdowns as part of a 21-carry, 58-yard day. Quarterback Brian Pell’s (13-of-28, 169 yards, TD) favorite target on the day was Anthony Ritchie, who hauled in a game-high six balls for 96 yards and a score.
Bethany 48, Geneva 27
BEAVER FALLS, Pa.
The Bethany College football team exploded for 34 first-half points and amassed 445 yards of total offense. A big kickoff return set up Geneva on the BC 20 to start the game, but they would be forced to settle for a 35-yard field goal. The Bethany offense went right to work on its first possession, marching 67 yards in 12 plays and finding paydirt with a 20-yard scoring pass from sophomore QB Matt Grimard to senior WR Alex Evans. The scoring really picked up in the second quarter, as Geneva (0-4, 0-2) capped an 80-yard drive with a 35-yard scoring pass from Rocco Collavecchia to Corey O’Patchen. Bethany (2-1, 1-1) would score the next two times, first on a 16-yard touchdown pass from Grimard to sophomore RB Nico Irizarry (Youngstown, Ohio/Ursuline) and then midway through the period on a two-yard scoring run from Walker.
