Poland Shepherd of the Valley hosted its final concert of the summer on Aug. 30, featuring music by the Jim Frank Trio.

Residents tapped their feet to old-time favorites such as “Hello Dolly,” “In the Mood” and the “Anniversary Waltz.” The members of the musical trio chatted with residents, took requests and celebrated anniversaries and the many long marriages among Shepherd residents.

Resident Ruth Barsch danced along to the tunes with a few of her friends and reflected on her summer.

“It’s been a great few months and it has been full of activity. They really keep us busy here,” Barsch said with a laugh.

The dance floor was open to anyone who wanted to get up and show off their moves and Bob and Hannah Henderson showed off some swing dancing during some of their favorite tunes.

“We’ve been married for 54 years and we’ve been dancing together for even longer than that. We just can’t pass up the chance to move when the music is right,” explained Hannah Henderson.

Residents were served refreshments and cookies during the concert.

Shepherd of the Valley hosts three concerts each summer.
