Jury selected in Jackson doctor’s case

LOS ANGELES

A jury of seven men and five women has been selected to hear the involuntary-manslaughter case of Michael Jackson’s doctor.

The panel was selected Friday after hours of questioning of prospective jurors by a judge, defense attorneys and prosecutors. The group was asked numerous questions, including whether they regarded the singer as childlike and how they feel about police.

Opening statements in the case are expected to begin Tuesday.

The selection process was closely guarded, with bailiffs marching 84 prospective jurors into Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor’s courtroom. Ten were dismissed quickly because they no could no longer serve for the roughly five weeks the case is expected to take.

Murray has pleaded not guilty to giving Jackson a lethal dose of the anesthetic propofol in June 2009.

‘All My Children’ ends run with a cliffhanger

NEW YORK

The soap opera “All My Children” is off the air with a gunshot and a cliffhanger.

The daytime drama has been on ABC since 1970 and televised its last episode Friday. But the story may not be over, since a production company has signed a licensing deal to keep the drama online or on other platforms.

That may account for the mystery of its final episode. It ended with most of the show’s characters gathered at the Chandler house for a party — celebrating engagements, a pregnancy and some miracle medical revivals.

The character J.R. lurked outside with a gun and fired it when the screen went black.

Was anyone shot? That may entice viewers to keep up online.
