Artist to unveil his latest work

YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown artist Ray Simon will unveil his new work, “Father Forgive Them,” at 6:30 p.m. today at the McDonough Museum of Modern Art, 525 Wick Ave.

The work depicts Bishop George V. Murry of the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown, who will speak at the event.

Prints will be available for purchase. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to RESTORE Inc., which provides free plastic and reconstructive surgery and related medical services to those with congenital and accident-related deformities in developing countries.

Britney Spears looks forward to 30

LONDON

The singer who created a sensation when she hit the music world in pigtails and knee socks is turning 30 — and Britney Spears says she’s looking forward to it. The U.S. pop star will be on the South American leg of her “Femme Fatale” world tour as she celebrates the landmark birthday Dec. 2.

Spears, who was once one of the Internet’s most-searched names, says, “I hear the older you get, the wiser you get and the more you know what you want — so hopefully it’ll be a good year.”

The singer kicks off a string of European tour dates today but is not scheduled to play on the birthday itself.

Schwarzenegger memoir due in 2012

Arnold Schwarzenegger, the bodybuilder, actor, former California governor and estranged husband of Maria Shriver, has an agreement with Simon & Schuster to publish a memoir in October 2012. According to Simon & Schuster, the book’s working title is “Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story.”
