Stiletto Foot Race deadline is today

WARREN

YWCA Warren, in partnership with the Downtown Warren Events and Promotions Council, is hosting the Great Stiletto Foot Race at 9 a.m. Oct. 1 at Courthouse Square, downtown.

Registration deadline is today; call the YW at 330-373-1010. Cost is $40 per person, which includes a ticket to the awards luncheon. Teens (18 and younger) can enter for free. Luncheon tickets can be purchased separately for $12.

Proceeds will support YWCA Warren programs. The race consists of two laps around Courthouse Square, running or walking in stilettos, a symbol of being a fearless female. Men are also welcome to participate.

Vendors can purchase table space for $45, or $25 with the donation of an item valued at $40 or more for the basket raffle. Sponsorship opportunities are available.

WFMJ TV reporter Michelle Nicks will be the grand marshal.

Weekend scrapbooking event in Newton Falls

NEWTON FALLS

A scrapbooking get-together is planned for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Melody Lane Dance Hall, 2864 Newton Falls Road.

Stamping tools will be furnished, 12-foot work tables will be available and a light lunch will be provided. Reservations are required; call 330-501-1656.

First Night Youngstown button fundraiser

First Night Youngstown is offering area nonprofit organizations the opportunity to earn money by selling First Night admission buttons.

The family-friendly, nonalcoholic First Night Youngstown is the premier New Year’s Eve event downtown. Area nonprofit organizations may sell admission buttons and keep a portion of the proceeds.

Stylists to participate in Clip for the Cure

CANFIELD

Canfield Famous Hair will participate in Regis Corp. Clip for the Cure Oct. 1. More than 50,000 Regis stylists will take part in the campaign which will donate 10 percent of the proceeds from each haircut that day to breast cancer research.

Also, the Canfield salon staff has organized a team to walk in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer at Canfield Fairgrounds Oct. 2. The salon manager is an eight-year breast cancer survivor.
