The president deserves respect

As an American citizen, voter, taxpayer and political independent, I truly and firmly believe that honor and respect should be shown to the office of the president, to Barack H. Obama, the 44th president of the United States and his family.

The tea party, the Republican Party, even members of the Democratic Party, the tabloid media and right-wing talk radio and TV have sunken to a new low when it comes to showing just some measure of respect and common decency for President Obama. It is unlike any president before in American history.

Our political leaders, clergy and all Americans should stand up, speak out in our homes, churches, temples, mosques and political capitals against such hate talk and hatred.
