CLUB CALENDAR


ALLIANCES

Ohio Cultural Alliance will meet at 6 p.m. Oct. 3 for its dinner meeting. The speaker will be Dr. Regina Rees, a professor in the department of education at Youngstown State University. Carol Weakland will perform Henry James’ “Turn of the Screw.” The meeting will be at Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4530 Canfield Road in Canfield. Jean Filmer and church members will prepare the meal. Membership runs from Sept. 2011 to June 2012 and costs $25 per person. Cost per meeting is $15 for each paid-up member and $20 for each nonmember. Mail reservations to OCA, P.O. Box 561, Canfield OH 44406-0561 no later than Sept. 27. Those who attend are urged to take nonperishable food items for donation to St. Vincent de Paul Society.

CLASSES

CLUBS

American Hungarian Club will have a business meeting at 7 p.m. Monday. A picnic from 5 to 7 p.m. will precede the meeting. The club will furnish the meat; members are asked to take a casserole.

Youngstown Business and Professional Women’s Club will meet from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Alberini’s, 1201 Youngstown-Warren Road, Niles. Dublin Grange will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday for a casserole dinner. The program will be provided by David Corll, who will talk about his experiences in France.

Retired Nurses will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Western Reserve Methodist Church, 4560 Canfield Road. Rich Morgan of WKBN TV will be the guest speaker, and refreshments will be served afterward. All area retired nurses are welcome.

POLITICAL CLUBS

The Girard Men’s Democrat Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Parkwood Youth Center.

Mahoning Republican Women’s Club kicked off its 75th anniversary season Sept. 1 with a picnic at a member’s home. The next meeting will be Oct. 6 at Cafe 422, hosted by Eddie Wolcott. Guest speaker will be Dr. William Pryce, U.S. Senate candidate, who will talk about the state and future of the American health care system. Like-minded women are invited to join. Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church Altar and Rosary Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday for the Rosary followed by the regular meeting at the church, 618 Ohio Ave. On Sunday, the society will have its annual fall breakfast after the 7:45 a.m. Mass. All members are asked to take a breakfast basket for the buffet. The group will sit together at Mass. New members are always welcome. SUPPORT GROUPS

Mended Hearts Support Group, Chapter 7, a support group for heart condition survivors and their families, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Azalea Room at St. Elizabeth Health Center Boardman. “Ask the Doctor and Nurses” will be the theme for the evening. Sitting on the panel will be Dr. Joseph Graziano; Lori DeNiro, director of nursing; Robert Gudyk, nurse manager; and Laura Moore, registered nurse. The public is welcome.
