Flu shots


Area public health departments and others are offering seasonal influenza vaccine.

COLUMBIANA COUNTY

Salem

Friday: 9 a.m. to noon, offered by the Mahoning County District Board of Health at the Green Township Administration Building, 12200 Lisbon Road, Salem; vaccine and nasal spray $25; no appointment necessary; persons on traditional Medicare or Medicaid must bring their cards.

MAHONING COUNTY

Youngstown

Oct. 3: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., offered by the Youngstown City Health Department at the Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane Youngstown, for 6 and older; children under 9 receiving the flu shot for the first time will need a second dose in November; the vaccine will be administered by injection only; cost $15 or Medicare B card; HINI is included in this year’s seasonal vaccine.

The Mahoning County District Board of Health will be administering flu shots and the nasal spray flu vaccine for $25 each. No appointment is necessary. People on traditional Medicare or Medicaid must bring their cards. Clinics dates are:

Today : 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Canfield United Methodist Church, 27 S. Broad St., Canfield.

Next Thursday: 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Poland Township Administration Building, 3339 Dobbins Road, Poland.

Boardman

Oct. 4: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., offered by the Visiting Nurse Association of Youngstown at the Clear Channel Radio Station, 7461 South Ave., Boardman. No appointment is necessary. The cost is $20 or Medicare and Anthem Senior Advantage are accepted. Call 330-782-5606 for more information.

MERCER COUNTY

Grove City

Oct. 15: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., offered by Community Health Partnership of Mercer County and the Mercer County Area Agency on Aging a free flu and pneumonia clinic for people 18 and older at Grove City Middle School, 100 Middle School Drive. The clinic could close early if the supply of shots is exhausted before the scheduled 2 p.m. closing time. If transportation is needed, call the Mercer County Community Transit at 800-222-8797.

The Mercer County Pandemic Committee, which is overseeing the clinic and using it as a point of dispensing drill for the county, is seeking clinical and nonclinical volunteers to work that day. Interested persons should call Bill Finley Jr. at 724-662-6100, ext. 2456.

Greenville

Saturday: 8 a.m. to noon, for people 18 and older, Greenville Medical Center-UPMC, 90 Shenango St., adult seasonal flu vaccination clinic. Patients should wear short sleeves and bring their insurance cards; the cost is $40; appointments are required, call the medical center at 724-588-4240.

TRUMBULL COUNTY

Warren

The Trumbull County Health Department is offering community flu-shot clinics for people 19 and older only at its offices at 176 Chestnut St. N.E., Warren. The October schedule is: 9:30-11:30 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m., Oct. 6; 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m., Oct. 14; 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., Oct. 19; and 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m., Oct. 27. Cost for adult flu vaccine is $20, cash, check or charge; and these insurances can be billed: Aetna, Anthem BCBS, Caresource, Cigna, Humana, Medical Mutual of Ohio, Medicare B, Medicare Railroad, Ohio Health Choice, Summacare, The Health Plan, UMWA, United Health Care which is not the UHC Community Plan.

Niles

St. Joe’s at the Mall, Eastwood Mall, is offering flu and pneumonia vaccinations throughout October, November and December for adults and children over 9 by appointment only. Call 330-652-7542. The cost is $25 for the flu shot and $48 for pneumonia vaccine. There is no cost for traditional Medicare, Medicare HMOs and Medicaid. Bring your card at time of appointment.
