Staff report

NEW CASTLE, PA.

A New Castle man died and a woman was seriously injured in a three-car accident.

The accident happened at 9:52 p.m. Friday on Pa. Route 208 just east of the Pulaski Township municipal building, Pulaski Township police said.

Brad Sherrod, 27, of Old Mercer Road, died in the accident. Cathy Fox, 46, of Fox Hollow Lane in Pulaski, was pinned in her car and had to be freed.

Police said Sherrod was eastbound when his pickup truck sideswiped a westbound pickup driven by Ronald Fox, 62, Cathy Fox’s husband. They were in separate vehicles, and Mrs. Fox was following her husband, police said.

After sideswiping the pickup, Sherrod hit Mrs. Fox’s SUV head-on, police said. Sherrod’s truck rolled over.

Mrs. Fox was freed by Pulaski, New Wilmington and Neshannock volunteer fire departments. She was flown to St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown, where she was reported in fair condition Tuesday, the hospital said.
