Ronald A. Wilcox, 53, of Manor Drive, Brookfield, was sentenced to 18 months in prison Tuesday after pleading guilty to crashing his vehicle while intoxicated into two men along state Route 7 in Brookfield Township in July 2010.

Wilcox’s driver’s license was also suspended for five years.

Wilcox pleaded guilty to single felony counts of vehicular assault and attempted vehicular assault before Judge Andrew Logan of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.

Police said a blood-alcohol test Wilcox took after the accident registered 0.19, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08.

Police said Tim Tonkinson of Campbell stopped along Route 7 to help pull a disabled vehicle from the edge of the road when Wilcox hit the back of the vehicle.

A person from the disabled vehicle, Matthew Cherrington of Girard, was knocked to the ground, and Tonkinson suffered a broken pelvis and leg injuries when he was crushed between the disabled vehicle and the back of his vehicle.
