Family and friends of Jim Geidner are sponsoring a benefit dinner Sept. 30 at Ciminero’s Banquet Center to help defer his medical expenses.
Geidner was diagnosed Feb. 14 with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a condition that destroys the lungs, ultimately requiring transplantation. Geidner, a Marine veteran, is in Cleveland Clinic in need of a transplant.
Tickets for the dinner, open bar and a chance at a cash door prize are $30 each. Only 450 are available for purchase and will not be sold at the door.
The event also will include music by DJ Cliff, a basket auction, a 50-50 raffle and a surprise box purchase. Savor the Valley wine, beer taste

Savor the Flavor of the Valley, a food, wine and beer taste to benefit Hospice of the Valley, is set for 7 to 10 p.m. Sept. 25 at the southeast entrance to Southern Park Mall.
The event will include tastings from area restaurants and caterers, live musical entertainment and an art and gift sale.

Butts open house planned in Fowler

The David and Melissa Butts House, in the center of Fowler, will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Sept. 25.
There will be a free Dixieland band concert from 1 to 3 p.m. Take lawn chairs.
