Mount Union 58, John Carroll 7

ALLIANCE

Junior running back Jeremy Murray finished with career-highs of 254 yards and three touchdowns (on 20 carries) for Mount Union (2-0, 1-0 OAC). Also, junior wide receiver Jasper Collins (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) had a career-best three touchdown catches. Collins finished with eight catches for 109 yards. The Purple Raiders finished the game with 631 total yards, their highest total since gaining 657 yards against Wheaton (a 45-24 win) in a NCAA Division III national semifinal game on Dec. 13, 2008.

Westminster 25, Grove City 20

GROVE CITY, PA.

Geno Pasquinelli caught seven passes for 85 yards and two TDs to lead the Titans (2-1, 1-0 Presidents’ Athletic Conference). Zach Hoffman added a 2-yard TD run midway through the third quarter that gave Westminster a 25-13 lead. Grove City cut the deficit to 5 on Clayton Hall’s 13-yard TD run with 13:16 left but could get no closer. Hoffman completed 8 of 12 passes for 124 yards and a TD and Tommy Turnbull completed 9 of 10 for 94 and a touchdown. For Grove City (0-3, 0-1), Hall completed 9 of 14 for just 33 yards and an interception but did run for 49 yards on 12 carries.

St. Ambrose 24, Malone 22

CANTON

Patrick Schmadeke kicked a 35-yard field goal with five seconds remaining to lead St. Ambrose. The Bees, who had led 21-7 early in the second quarter, got the ball back at their own 32-yard line with 3:11 to play. Quarterback Eric Williamson had two fourth-down runs to keep the final drive alive. His last carry of nine yards on a fourth-and-4 got SAU down to the Malone 26-yard line with 59 seconds on the clock. Greg Wilson rushed three straight times to get to the Pioneer 18-yard line before Schmadeke booted the game winner.

Waynesburg 46, Thiel 7

WAYNESBURG, PA.

Quarterback Josh Graham piloted a balanced Yellow Jackets (1-1, 1-0 Presidents’ Athletic Conference) offensive attack, piling up 345 total yards (225 yards passing, 120 yards rushing) of offense. Graham finished 11-of-26 for 120 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. Adam Moses was his top receiver, catching five passes for 61 yards and a touchdown. Christian Jackson and Justin Falcon each added receiving touchdowns. Tyler Fatigante paced the Yellow Jacket rushing attack with two touchdowns on two carries. Andrew Smith finished 10-of-20 passing for 68 yards and three interceptions. De’Von Drish rushed 19 times for 63 yards and a score with Brent Walter totaling 32 yards on 10 carries.

West Chester 20, Slippery Rock 13

WEST CHESTER, PA.

West Chester took advantage of big plays and Rock mistakes to hand Slippery Rock its first loss of the season in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crossover action. The Golden Rams (1-2) intercepted Rock quarterback Cody Endres three times and scored touchdowns on a 65-yard pass play and a 49-yard punt return. They also got two field goals (22 and 36 yards) from All-America candidate Shawn Leo.

Marian 38, Notre Dame (Ohio) 0

MARIAN, IND.

The NAIA’s No. 4 team had its offense in high gear as Marian rode a 20-of-21 performance by quarterback Adam Wiese. Marian (4-0), an NAIA playoff team last year, racked up 565 total yards of offense, and the Notre Dame (1-2) offense was held off the scoreboard for the first time in 2011. Wiese threw for 273 yards.
