Acclaimed author to speak on divisiveness of religion in lecture series

The Shipka Speaker Series of the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Youngstown State University will present David E. Campbell in a free lecture titled “American Grace: How Religion Divides and Unites Us” at 12:30 p.m. Thursday in St. John Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave.

Campbell is a professor of Political Science at the University of Notre Dame and founding director of the Rooney Center for the Study of American Democracy. An expert on politics, religion and civic engagement, Campbell has been featured in many national media outlets.

Campbell, along with Robert Putnam, co-authored “American Grace: How Religion Divides and Unites Us,” and is the author of Why We Vote: How Schools and “Communities Shape Our Civic Life.”
