New gas-aggregation rates are announced

Staff report

New gas-aggregation rates were announced for Austintown, Boardman and Poland townships and Poland village.

Boardman and Poland townships and Poland village residents will pay a fixed rate of $5.54 per Mcf from October 2011 to September 2012; and Austintown residents will pay a fixed rate of $5.51 per Mcf for the same period, according to Vectren Source, which provides the low-rate aggregation program.

The rate per Mcf is what residents will pay per 1,000 cubic feet of natural-gas usage.

Austintown, Boardman and Poland townships’ old rate was $5.98 per Mcf, and Poland village’s old rate was $5.99 per Mcf.

Residents who are currently enrolled in the program and those who are newly eligible will received opt-out notices beginning Oct. 14.

Residents who don’t want to participate in the aggregation program must contact Vectren at 800-608-8510.

Anyone with questions is asked to call the same number and not their local township or village offices.
