Cub Scout Pack 25 hosts recruiting event

Neighbors | Submitted.Cub Scouts provides an opportunity for parent or caregiver and son to explore new experiences together. The aims of Scouting include citizenship training, character development and personal fitness that are learned through activities that contribute to a sense of a boy’s belonging.

Canfield Cub Scout Pack 25 will host prospective and current Scouts Sept. 26 at 6:30 p.m. at Camp Stambaugh’s Brown Pavilion on Leffingwell Road in Canfield to discuss the many aspects of Cub Scouting.

Those attending will have an opportunity to take a hike through Camp Stambaugh and take part in a few activities. The pack will be holding drawings to win a $25 gift certificate at Outdoor Recreational Equipment in Boardman for one new scout and one current scout who bring a friend who registers for the pack.

The pack holds a monthly activity for all boys first through fifth grade. Similar aged boys are separated into dens that conduct meetings twice a month exploring specific topics to earn advancements such as belt loops, patches or pins. Meetings take place from September through June, with summer day or overnight camp experiences as an option.

Cub Scouts provides an opportunity for parent or caregiver and son to explore new experiences together. Experiences change yearly, but have included a visit with a taxidermist, tour of a television station, sleeping overnight on the Scrappers baseball field, the annual Pinewood Derby Race, marching in parades, a cake auction and more. Boys can also earn belt loops through their own efforts.

Cost for scouting includes purchasing the uniform, patches and book, some activity fees or fees for parents or siblings to participate. Many of these fees can be offset by the scout’s participation in fundraising efforts. The pack pays for annual national dues.
