The next KidShape class is scheduled to begin Monday and run through Oct. 29.

KidShape is a family-based program that focuses on behavior modification and includes nutrition education, peer discussion, group support, exercise and other fun activities that promote wellness and self-esteem. The nine-session program is targeted toward children age 6 to 14 who are overweight or at risk of becoming overweight and whose body-mass indexes are in the 85th or 95th percentile according to their age and sex.

All classes meet at the Jameson South Conference Center, 1000 S. Mercer St., from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays and 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturdays.

This program is co-sponsored by the Jameson Hospital Community and Staff Education Department and The Highmark Foundation.

Cancer awareness

The Humility of Mary Health Partners Foundation will sponsor an event this weekend to serve as a kickoff event for the Man Up Mahoning Valley prostate-cancer awareness campaign.

The second annual Blue Ribbon event, 10K and 5K race/walks and 2-mile awareness walk will be Saturday at Wick Park, corner of Fifth and Park avenues, on the city’s North Side.

Registration begins at 7 a.m. at Wick Park Pavilion on race day. The 10K run will begin at 8:30 a.m.; a 5K at 8:35 a.m.; and 2-mile awareness walk shortly after. The 10K route will go through the Youngstown State University campus and downtown before returning to the park.

Accused of burglary

YOUNGSTOWN

An 18-year-old Campbell man accused of burglary was arrested by Youngstown police Thursday. Jayquan Manigault faces one burglary charge, according to reports. Police said they were called to 121 E. Avondale Ave. after neighbors saw a man breaking in.

Officers and a police dog surrounded the house, and inside they found soiled clothes, dirty dishes and Manigault, who claimed he was in the house trying to look for a burglar, reports state.

Witnesses identified Manigault as the man they saw climbing into the house, police said.

Bank-robbery suspect

hermitage, pa.

A Greenville, Pa., man has been arrested in an Aug. 29 bank robbery in Hermitage.

Kenneth Stowell, 64, of 27 Kinsman Road, was arrested at the Hermitage Police Department around 3 p.m. Wednesday after he turned himself in, police said.

Police said tips led to Stowell’s being a suspect in the robbery at PNC Bank on North Hermitage Road. Police interviewed him, and he admitted the robbery, they said.

After his arrest, Stowell was taken before District Magistrate Dennis Songer where he was arraigned, and his bond was set at $10,000.

Stowell was unable to post the bond, and he was taken to Mercer County Jail, police said.
