City wrong to switch managers

City wrong to switch managers

We feel that the city of Youngstown will be at a great loss by removing Louis DeVicchio from his position as manager of 20 Federal Place. The improvements he brought were extremely valuable to the renaissance of downtown Youngstown.

When we walked into that building, it was as if we were transported to another dimension. We were greeted by beautiful music, the venue was cleaner and brighter, the food court was expanded and improved, and the building was more aesthetically attractive than ever. New businesses (one of which occupied an entire floor) were added. With those businesses came jobs; with those businesses also came an influx of people to the downtown area.

All that was gained under Mr. DeVicchio’s management will be lost. His experience with leasing and improving buildings was a tremendous asset to his position at 20 Federal Place. Mr. DeVicchio contributed greatly to the revitalization of downtown Youngstown, and we feel he should not have been removed from his position.

Pressure problem is widespread

We read SUNDAY’S editorial in The Vindicator about Liberty’s water woes with interest. You don’t have to live in Liberty to be affected. We live in Girard. Every night it’s the same thing; around 9 p.m. the water pressure nose dives and stays low for hours.

While this is very inconvenient, it would be easier to take if someone would explain what’s going on and what’s being done. We hope people get together and have that regional meeting you suggest.
