AUCTIONS

Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road, Austintown, will host a basket auction from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. The auction, sponsored by the Saxon Ladies Society, is an annual fundraiser for a scholarship to Youngstown State University. The doors will open at 1 p.m. The cost is $5 per person and includes a sheet of bidding tickets, a door prize entry and refreshments. The auction includes gift cards and special baskets.

BOOK SALES

Girard Free Library and its Friends of the Library will have their annual book sale Friday and Saturday. The preview sale will be from 5 to 6 p.m., with a $2 admission fee for anyone 10 and older. Saturday’s sale is from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. An extra $2-a-bag-day will take place from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 19. Take your own grocery bags to fill as you wish. CARD, BINGO PARTIES

Girard Eagles Ladies Auxiliary 2172 will have its bingo and card party Oct. 2 at the Eagles Club hall, 26 W. Wilson Ave. Doors will open at noon to serve a red pasta dinner with meatballs, tossed salad and coffee or tea. You may also take a canned food item to give to the needy for Christmas for a free card with the purchase of a ticket. The event will also include a basket and 50-50 raffles and a bake sale. The public is welcome.

St. Joseph the Provider Infant Jesus of Prague Guild will host a bingo and card party starting at 2 p.m. Sunday in the church hall, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell. Prizes will be awarded. Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 421 Covington St., Youngstown, will have a card party, sponsored by the Altar & Rosary Society, at 2 p.m. Sept. 25. Admission for adults is $4, and for children, it’s $2.

CRAFT SHOWS

Queen of the Holy Rosary Church will have a craft show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 15 at the church, 291 Scoville Drive, Vienna. Cost is $20 per 8-foot table. Shepherd of the Valley-Poland, 301 W. Western Reserve Road, is seeking vendors for its annual Family Fall Fest & Craft Show set for Sept. 24. To rent a space call the office at 330-726-7110 ext. 0. This year’s event will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature outdoor activities such as a bounce-around, face painting and music. Proceeds benefit resident activities.

FESTIVALS/FAIRS

William Penn Fraternal Association is sponsoring its annual end-of-the-summer fest Saturday at Scenic View Park, Rockwood, Pa. The event begins at noon and ends about 6 p.m. In conjunction with this all-day event, the WPA will celebrate its 125th anniversary. A special performance by the RAJKO ensemble from Budapest, Hungary, will be given. A 46-seat bus has been chartered by Youngstown Branch 28 of William Penn. The bus will depart from Boardman Red Lobster at 8 a.m. and arrive back in Youngstown about 10 p.m. The cost for the bus trip is $35 per person, which includes transportation and admission. FLEA MARKETS

Central Christian Church, 2051 E. Market St., Warren, will have its annual Fall Flea Market from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, featuring 25 vendors. Among items to be sold are antiques, Avon, baby clothes, Fenton glass and more. Food will be available to purchase. If it rains, the sale will move indoors.

Salem Memorial Building Association is hosting its annual indoor fall yard sale/flea market from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 24 in the gym. Eight-foot tables with chairs can be reserved for $10 per table. All items are subject to approval. Set-up time is from 6 to 8 a.m. that day. Checks should be made payable to Salem Memorial Building and dropped off or mailed to the building at 785 E. SALES

Damascus United Methodist Church will have its annual rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 30 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 1. You can fill a brown paper bag for $4 all day Friday and until noon Saturday. From noon to closing, fill the bag for $1. Larger items will be priced separately. Proceeds will support Damascus United Methodist Women’s local missions. A bake sale and lunch bar will be available. Ohltown United Methodist Church, 2001 Ohltown Road, Austintown, across from the Meander Bridge, will have its semiannual trash and treasure sale and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. No clothing will be sold. All items are at bargain prices. The location is handicapped-accessible. The monthly carryout of homemade chili sale will begin. Cost is $5 per quart. Simon Road Church of God, 4750 Simon Road, Boardman, will have a Trash and Treasure Sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Proceeds will go toward mission trips for the pastors.

Southington United Methodist Church Day Circle, state Routes 305 and 534 in Southington, will have a rummage and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday. Lunch of homemade bean soup, sandwiches, drinks and desserts will be served. Carryouts will be available. Bag day will be Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m.

Tri-County Hadassah will have a rummage sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday through Sept. 21 at Beth Israel Temple Center, 2138 E. Market St. Rummage of all types is being accepted, including electronics, books, toys, furniture, lamps, linens, jewelry, collectibles, stuffed animals, luggage, china and silver, household items and sports equipment. Tri-County members are urged to volunteer their time and support the event.

TRIPS

Create Your Own Destiny, a nonprofit that raises money for foster children, is sponsoring a bus trip to Seneca Allegheny Casino in New York on Sunday. Cost is $30, but you’ll receive $35 back, plus $10 more for first-timers. For more information, call April at 330-540-5598.

Butler Institute of American Art has planned a four-day, three-night bus trip to Chicago from Oct. 27 through 30. Participants will stay at The Palmer House, located in the heart of the city, nicknamed “The Loop.” The hotel is within walking distance to Millennium Park, the Magnificent Mile shopping district, The Art Institute of Chicago, the theater district and more. The tour will include a visit to the residence and studio of Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959) and several of the prairie-style residences that he designed, and stops at the Madron Gallery and The Art Institute.
