Traffic is light at reappraisal meetings

YOUNGSTOWN — Only two Mahoning County real estate owners showed up at the county’s reappraisal information center for consultations concerning their tentative new property values in the first three hours the center was open this morning.

The center, located in the Oakhill Renaissance Place first floor auditorium, 345 Oak Hill Ave., Entrance A, opened at 8 a.m. and will remain open until 4:30 p.m. today. It will be open the same hours on Wednesday and Friday of this week.

Real estate owners will be able to consult with appraisers and auditor’s office staff concerning the reasoning behind any changes in their property values in the county’s just-completed once-every-six-years comprehensive reappraisal.

The value of all real estate county-wide dropped 4.2 percent, with residential real estate dropping 7.4 percent.

Only 11 calls were received between 8 and 10 a.m. on the auditor’s telephone information line, (330) 740-7909.

The tentative values for all 166,000 parcels of Mahoning County real estate were posted this morning on the county’s web site, www.mahoningcountyoh.gov.
