Divelbiss 60th celebrated with 2 family events

AUSTINTOWN

Howard and Lillian Divelbiss of Austintown marked their 60th wedding anniversary with a celebration Aug. 27 at Davidson’s in Cornersburg, hosted by their family.

They have one son, Howard W. “Howdy” (Sherry) of Austintown; two daughters, Laura (Joe) Assion of Medina, and Lynn Divelbiss (Lou Warren) of Bradford, Mass.; four grandchildren, Andrea Jo Assion of Seminole, Fla., Katie Assion of Berea, a student at Baldwin Wallace College; Gregg (Deena) Divelbiss of Dublin, Ohio; and Adam Divelbiss of Austintown; and one great-grandchild, Aiden Jacobi Divelbiss, also of Austintown.

The couple also were honored Sept. 1 with a surprise supper at Fifth Season Restaurant in North Jackson.

Mr. Divelbiss and the former Lillian “Bunny” Boyer were married Sept. 1, 1951, at South Side Presbyterian Church on Market Street in Youngstown.

Mr. Divelbiss retired from Valley Mould in Hubbard in 1985, then worked 22 years at the BP gas station at the corner of Mahoning Avenue and state Route 46 in Austintown.

Mrs. Divelbiss is a retired secretary, having worked 30 years at Ohltown United Methodist Church and seven years at First United Methodist Church.

Both are volunteer companions for Hospice of the Valley, where Mrs. Divelbiss has served 23 years and Mr. Divelbiss has served seven years.

They also work on its mail team.
