Mount Union 41, Wisconsin-Oshkosh 17

The Purple Raiders ,ranked No. 2 in the nation, trailed 7-3 in the first quarter before scoring 31 of the next 34 points to win their 24th consecutive season opener. Junior running back Jeremy Murray rushed for 125 yards on 20 carries and two touchdowns. He added a third score on a pass from junior quarterback Neal Seaman. Junior Jasper Collins had a career-high 10 pass receptions for 96 yards, and junior Chris Denton also hauled in a touchdown pass from junior quarterback Matt Piloto. Junior Jake Simon added a touchdown. Seaman finished 18 of 29 for 149 passing yards, while Piloto was seven of 10 for 120 yards. Defensively, junior cornerback Nick Driskill led the way with 13 tackles, and senior Tyler Alwardt and senior Alex Ferrara had interceptions.

Lycoming 41, Westminster 3

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.

Lycoming (2-0) outgained Westminster (1-1) in total yardage 463-89 including a 169 rushing yards while limiting the Titans to minus-19 rushing yards. After Lycoming scored first, Westminster cut the margin to 7-3 in the first quarter. Junior safety Kyle Allen blocked a Lycoming punt that was recovered by senior defensive lineman Ryan Brucker at the Lycoming 7-yard line. Sophomore kicker Zac Henry made a 24-yard field goal for Westminster’s only points. Craig Needhame led Lycoming with 91 rushing yards on eight attempts and two touchdowns. Lycoming quarterback Zach Klinger completed 19 of 34 passes for 294 yards and three touchdowns. Westminster senior quarterback Shawn Lehocky completed 10 of 21 passes for 68 yards. Junior linebacker Derrick Orloski led the Titans with 10 tackles.

Lebanon Valley 27, Grove City 7

GROVE CITY, Pa.

Grove City slashed Lebanon Valley’s lead to 13-7 with 4:55 remaining in the third quarter on a 5-yard touchdown run by senior tailback Blaine Miller. Miller’s run capped a 15-play, 91-yard drive that used 6 minutes, 11 seconds. Grove City converted two third-down situations and one fourth down on the drive. However, Lebanon Valley answered with a 38-yard scoring drive of its own. Tailback Ben Guiles capped the drive with a nine-yard touchdown run at the 3:22 mark, extending the lead to 20-7. Lebanon Valley closed the scoring with nine minutes left when Colt Zarilla threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Joey Miller. Zarilla also threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Miller in the first quarter to give the Dutchmen a 6-0 lead. Senior quarterback Clayton Hall completed 14 of 24 passes for 101 yards. Junior wide receiver Dustin Anewalt caught a career-high five passes for 35 yards. Miller and Hall led Grove City with 18 yards rushing each. Lebanon Valley held the Wolverines to 51 yards rushing on 26 attempts. Defensively, sophomore linebacker Ryan Althausen recorded 2.5 sacks and three total tackles for loss. He had eight total stops.

Widener 44, Thiel 14

GREENVILLE, Pa.

Widener outscored the Tomcats 30-0 in the second half at Alumni Stadium. Widener (2-0) quarterback Chris Haupt completed 28-of-51 passes for 294 yards and three scores and ran for another to pace the Pride offense. Haupt targeted Anthony Clayton seven times for 81 yards and a score and connected with Cedrick Clayton seven times for 88 yards. Steve Marrero and Dom DePasquale each finished with a touchdown reception. Terrant Morrison rushed nine times for 99 yards and a touchdown while Dante Pergolese totaled nine carries for 52 yards and a score. Thiel quarterback Jared Soell threw for 179 yards and a touchdown on 17-of-31 passing. Soell also rushed 11 times for 29 yards. Nate Blazevich hauled in a career-high eight passes for 79 yards and touchdown while Kyle Turkalj corralled four catches for 28 yards. Ryan Dawes led the Tomcats with a game-high nine tackles.
