Rotary club honors scholarship winners

The Rotary Club of Canfield honored scholarship recipients at its regular meeting and presented them with scholarship checks. Scholarship committee member Tom Danko and Canfield Rotary president Michael Raulin made the presentations.

Honorees included college-bound Brianne Rothbauer, who is headed to Kent State University, Gia Velasquez (Yale University), Olivia Johntony (Ohio Northern University) and Emily Gleichert (University of Michigan).

Valasquez was the recipient of the Myron Ullman Scholarship and Gleichert was awarded the Al Coulson Scholarship. These two scholarships commemorate local individuals who have made significant contributions over the years to the Rotary Club of Canfield.

A committee of Rotarians meets annually to choose the scholarship winners and to recognize several graduating seniors for their local contributions to the community.

Rotary has a long tradition of working with young people, including scholarships, by sponsoring a high school Interact Club and by partnering with youth groups in several of their service projects.
